Ethereal and grounded, Mimi Dominique’s music has a way of transporting listeners into a colourful dream world, and then bringing them back to the present moment with lyrics that are immediate and sensory. A folk singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada, Mimi is the daughter of two theatre actors, giving her a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling and the power of live performance. Some of her most beloved inspirations include Laura Marling, Connie Converse, and Joan Baez. Lately, Mimi has been exploring her passion for traditional folk singing, performing songs from the British Isles with her sister and connecting to her roots through Ukrainian polyphony with Toronto’s Kosa Choir.
Mimi has played countless shows across Canada, frequently performing in Toronto and Montreal, as well as out east in Halifax and on the west coast in BC, including at the Filberg Festival on Vancouver Island. Mimi is a 2024 graduate of Seneca College’s songwriting and performance program as well as a 2025 participant of Folk Canada’s Developing Artist Program. Mimi will release her debut album in the summer of 2026 and tour in the spring. She will be playing across the country, including a performance with 2025 Juno award-winning artist Kaia Kater at the St. Lawrence Acoustic Stage in Morrisburg, ON. With her music, Mimi hopes to honour the folk tradition of truth-telling and bringing people together through story and song.
